An Apartment for Open Secrets
We have made a living together,
rooms inside this life of ours.
We watch one another like other people
watch the stars or their television sets.
Windows have opened in our fingertips.
We have walls that fold inwards
and adjust to the pressure of passion.
Our hands are dimmer switches for
the fine tuning of devotion.
I bathe in the afterglow of your breath.
I cosset you with the soft furnishings of care
attending to the prayers of your limbs.
Sometimes we draw the curtains
enjoying the darkness.
We are the lovers
that everyone has heard of, but no one knows.
Living rooms, an apartment within
their view of love.
